About the farm producers and La Candelilla Estate Finca Palmilera is a 15 hectare coffee farm that has been in the Sanchez family for over 20 years. Didier and Pablo Sanchez manage the farm, located 1500 meters above sea level in San Lorenzo, Costa Rica. They represent two generations of the Sanchez family and are committed to producing quality specialty coffee through hard work and technology. The Sanchez family is focused on improving processes at their farm and experimenting with new types of processing methods. They produced this exceptional natural process lot from 100% ripe cherries that were dried on raised beds and patios for 20 days.
La Candelilla Estate was possibly the first micromill in Costa Rica and a large undertaking of 7 siblings who operated their small farms independently until pooling together their resources during the coffee crisis of 1997 to start their own wet mill. Since it opened in 2000, La Candelilla has planted exotic varietals and become experts in natural processed coffees.
What is the Gesha varietal? Gesha is a variety of coffee tree that originated in the Gori Gesha forest, Ethiopia, though it is now grown in several other nations in Africa, Asia, and the Americas. It is widely known for its unique flavor profile of floral and sweet notes, and its exclusivity as its demand has increased over the years. The flavor profile of Gesha coffee is one aspect that contributes to its renown. Gesha is known for its aroma and sweet flavor of floral notes, jasmine, chocolate, berries, & honey. These sweet floral notes, and complex flavor profiles are some of the many characteristics that Gesha coffee shares with most other African coffees. Gesha is perhaps the most valuable coffee in the world.
This coffee is smooth and a good choice for people who have fussy stomachs. The fruity notes make this coffee something even I-hate-mornings types something to be excited about getting up for!

Great cup
We really enjoyed this coffee. The whole bean and ground coffee fragrance were fantastic! It was a very clean cup with berry sweetness as the cup cools the melon came forth.
We were sad to get to the end of the bag, would definitely buy again.

Great value, clean cup
Needs a few weeks to open up but have been enjoying it with aeropress and v60. It has a round body and crisp acidity. A very clean cup with balanced acidity. Would probably work well as espresso too. I might prefer a slightly lighter roast however, but overall am pleased.

Might be my favorite from Magnolia Roasters!
Just opened a bag of Las Lajas Perla Negra for the first time this AM. WOW!!! Whole and ground bean nose is dead on to notes in description. Brilliant beans and roasting. Very smooth with balanced acidity and strawberry, cacao (dusty), dark honey and fruity sweetness. Hopefully, I will be able to re-create this morning's mug over and over. 1:16 ratio, medium grind (#6 on Fellow Opus), 3 minutes immersed with 1/3 water in a Hario Switch (Ceramic) and remaining 2/3 water pour over with Switch open flow in 2 pours. Another absolute gem from Magnolia Roasters and possibly my favorite to date!!

Costa Rica Las Lajas Double Diamond Anaerobic Natural
Dreamlands barely tolerable, I'll probably throw it out, Costa Rica cannot be tolerated, definitely throw it out. Does anyone even test the taste of these?......wow

Hi / I was super excited to try your Costa Rico and Guatemala blends which were marked by notes of chocolate and citrus. This is a common daily espresso blend served at many popular coffee shops and our favorite.
Unfortunately we found the blends to be much more acidic and the notes to be subtle or not there. We’ve tried Gregory’s, Little Wave, and a few other brands that are rich in these flavor notes.
