I'm not sure how/why coffeereview.com gave this 96 points. It's OK, but for the money there are plenty of other options that I would rate higher. No matter what brewing variables I altered when brewing this Ethiopia Durato Bombe Natural with either Aeropress or Hario V60, the results never delivered near the wow factor that Magnolia's Ethiopia Worka Sakaro Natural does.
This is one of my favorite coffees from any roaster -- well deserving of the 95 point rating from coffeereview.com. Berry forward and well-balanced with a smooth finish making you want the next sip. Great cups from both Aeropress and pour over.
This was a solid brew for me and something I could see myself having every day. Tasted best with a very coarse grind on my K-Ultra with a 3x bloom and then one long, slow pour.
Distinctively “winey” prominent taste dominates this coffee which I found disagreeable to my palate. I expected a lot better, but undoubtedly the unique processing of this bean imparts this characteristic.
I’ve consistently enjoyed the coffees from Magnolia. While I usually gravitate toward their single-origin offerings, we found the Poinsettia holiday blend to be especially delicious—smooth, well-balanced, and a perfect first cup of the day. The roast quality is excellent, and the quick delivery was much appreciated. Very impressed overall.
